Injury Mechanisms

1Display the Injury Mechanism fields

An Injury Mechanism field was added to the Incident investigation page for Incident Versions 1 and 2.

The field is displayed when one of the following Event Classifications is selected:

  • Discomfort
  • Lost Time Injury
  • Medical Treatment Injury
  • Minor Injury
  • Restricted Work Injury
2Record the Injury Mechanism

Each Injury Mechanism contains a Primary Mechanism and a dependent Secondary Mechanism.

Up to five Injury Mechanisms can be recorded against an Incident report.

3Report on Injury Mechanisms

After the Incident is saved, the recorded Injury Mechanisms are available through:

  • The Incident report options in Report Builder
  • The Top 5 Injury Mechanisms information in the Incident Insight Report under Reports

If the Incident Insight Report is not available, the user may not have the required Engage authority. Check with the organisation's Engage administrator.

Potentially Notifiable Incident alerts

4Configure the internal alert recipients

The Potentially Notifiable Incident alert pathway, which was already available in Incident Version 2, was added to Incident Version 1.

Go to:

Customer Admin > Organisation > Company > Edit

Use Potentially Notifiable should go to to select one or more employees who should receive the internal alert. These recipients should be people responsible for assessing or managing potentially notifiable events, such as appropriate senior leaders or Health & Safety contacts.

Potentially Notifiable should go to configuration

5Send the internal Incident alert

The Incident investigation includes Alert Company Leadership Staff to Incident.

When this option is selected and the warning is confirmed, Engage sends an email and data notification to the configured Potentially Notifiable contacts.

Important: This Engage function sends an internal alert. It does not determine whether the event is legally notifiable and does not notify WorkSafe or another regulator. The organisation must assess the event and complete any required external notification separately. See Notify WorkSafe.
