When an Employee Leaves

Creation date: 20/3/2025 11:35 am    Updated: 20/3/2025 12:06 pm
If an employee is leaving your company, you will need to follow the termination process in Engage. To learn more about how to terminate an employee, please click here

Before you do this however, there are a few areas that you may want to change and adjust. These will be summarised in the notification that will appear once the termination date and reason has been added against the employee. It is recommended to take a screenshot of this pop up to ensure all areas are covered before their final day with the company.

Key areas that you will want to check are:

Termination Report

Once an employee has had a termination date put against their profile, they will have a Termination Report appear on their employee bio 7 days prior to their last day with the company. This report provides details of any uniform items that will need to be returned, as well as any currently assigned assets that you may need to Edit in order to adjust/allocate to a new employee.

Direct Reports

If an employee is a manager to one or more employees, it is strongly encouraged to change their manager over to a new contact prior to their last day. This means that any leave notifications, H&S alerts regarding the employee, and potentially View permissions will be covered after the employee has left. You are able to adjust an employee's direct reports in bulk to save time; to learn more about how to do this, click here

Key positions in Engage

There are a number of Key positions in Engage that can be found at Branch level (click here to learn more), or Company level (click here to learn more). If the terminated employee holds one of these key positions it is essential that these are adjusted prior to the employee's last day as these positions can impact various notifications and functions in Engage.

If you have any other queries about employee's leaving, or any other areas of Engage, please contact support@engagesolutions.co.nz and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
